# Troubleshooting

> What each WiseGuard connector error means and how to fix it.

Your agent gets these messages from WiseGuard. It usually tells you what happened in its own words. The exact text is below so you can match it.

## 401: sign in again

The app gets HTTP `401` with `invalid_token`:

```text wrap theme={null}
Invalid or expired access token
```

Your sign-in has expired or isn't valid. Sign in again:

* **Claude:** open **Settings → Connectors** and connect WiseGuard again.
* **Claude Code:** run `/mcp`, choose **wiseguard** and sign in.

This also happens if your WiseGuard account isn't set up yet. Finish checkout in WiseGuard, then sign in again.

## 403 access\_denied: app disconnected

```text wrap theme={null}
This app was disconnected from your WiseGuard account. Reconnect it in WiseGuard under Settings → AI agents.
```

The app gets this with HTTP status `403` and error `access_denied`.

Someone disconnected this app in WiseGuard. To fix it, open **Settings → AI agents** in WiseGuard and click **Reconnect**. Signing in again doesn't help until you reconnect.

## 403 insufficient\_scope

The app called a tool it wasn't given access to. Remove the connector in the app, add it again, and approve access when you sign in. See [Sign-in and permissions](/guides/sign-in-and-permissions#what-you-approve).

This happens with the mail tools if you connected before they existed.

## Inactive plan

```text wrap theme={null}
The user's WiseGuard plan is inactive (trial_expired). Tell them to renew at https://dashboard.wiseguard.ai/billing. Don't retry.
```

The part in brackets is your billing state, for example `trial_frozen`, `trial_expired`, `refunded` or `no_subscription`.

Your plan doesn't allow new aliases right now. Renew or pick a plan at the billing page in WiseGuard. Your existing aliases still work, and the agent can still look at them.

## Not enough credits

When you get monthly credits but have run out:

```text wrap theme={null}
This action costs 5 AI agent credits and the user has 3. Credits refill on the 1st of the month (UTC). Don't retry before then.
```

When your plan doesn't include credits, for example on a trial:

```text wrap theme={null}
This action costs 2 AI agent credits and the user has 0. Credits come with a paid WiseGuard plan; the user can get one at https://dashboard.wiseguard.ai/billing. Don't retry.
```

The numbers are what the action costs and how many credits you have left.

The action costs more [AI agent credits](/guides/credits) than you have. Nothing was changed or sent.

* If you get monthly credits, wait for the refill on the 1st of the month (UTC).
* If you're on a trial or have no plan, credits come with a paid plan. Pick one at the billing page in WiseGuard.

Ask "how many AI agent credits do I have left?" to check your balance.

## Alias limit reached

```text wrap theme={null}
The plan's alias limit is reached (25 of 25 used). Suggest the user deletes aliases they no longer use.
```

The numbers are your plan's limit and how many aliases you have now.

You have as many aliases as your plan allows. Delete aliases you don't use, or upgrade your plan. Deleted aliases don't count toward the limit.

## Rate limited

```text wrap theme={null}
Too many aliases created recently. The user can create more in about 42 minutes. Don't retry before then.
```

The minutes are the real time left until the limit resets.

Agents can create 20 aliases per hour and 100 per day. Wait the time it says, then try again. See [Limits and behaviour](/guides/limits-and-behaviour#creating-aliases).

## Send limit reached

```text wrap theme={null}
Too many emails sent through AI agents recently. The user can send more in about 42 minutes. Don't retry before then.
```

The minutes are the real time left until the limit resets.

Your agents sent the most emails allowed for now. Wait the time it says, then try again. See [Limits and behaviour](/guides/limits-and-behaviour#sending-mail).

For other send errors, like a paused alias or your account's own send limits, see [Send mail](/tools/mail-send#errors-for-both-tools).

## Not found

```text wrap theme={null}
No alias with that ID or address on this account.
```

The agent asked for an alias that isn't on your account. Common causes:

* The address has a typo. Ask the agent to list your aliases first.
* The alias was deleted. Read, rename, pause and resume only see aliases that aren't deleted. Ask "what have I deleted recently?" instead.
* The alias belongs to another WiseGuard account.

For an email, the agent gets:

```text wrap theme={null}
No message with that ID on this account.
```

The email is on another account, was sent to an alias that's now deleted, or is being held back by WiseGuard. Ask the agent to list the alias's emails again to get a fresh ID.

## Other messages

The alias changed while the agent was working on it. Ask again:

```text wrap theme={null}
The alias changed at the same moment. Get it again and retry.
```

```text wrap theme={null}
The alias was just deleted, so it can no longer be changed.
```

The agent passed a bad site. Use a domain like `netflix.com`:

```text wrap theme={null}
"localhost" is not a website domain. Pass one like netflix.com, or leave site_domain out.
```

A short-lived problem on our side. The agent retries once by itself:

```text wrap theme={null}
Creating the alias failed temporarily. Retry once.
```

Nothing to do, because the alias is already in that state:

```text wrap theme={null}
This alias is already paused; nothing to do.
```

For delete and restore errors, see [Delete & restore](/tools/delete-and-restore).
